What is a Notice Of Correction?

A 'Notice of Correction' means that the subject of the search has contacted TransUnion (or another credit agency) to dispute something on their Credit File and TransUnion (or another agency) have placed the data in a 'locked' position until they can verify (or otherwise) the conflicting data. People often pay to check their credit file when they are refused credit, and then dispute the information. The data can't be used in any decision making whilst in the disputed state so the search can't proceed.
When a search is returned with a 'Notice of Correction' we cannot perform an AML Search until it has been actioned by them. Unfortunately, no timescale is ever given for the process to be completed, as they are all done on a case-by-case basis (requiring human intervention).
The only solution is to wait and try again, but they can take anything from days to months to be corrected. It's beyond the control of AML Search to speed the process up.
We never charge for a Notice of Correction.
